Football Score: Bipolar 1 vs England FC nil

If you have bipolar then been a fan of England is not good for your health. Watching them play sends your emotions and mood on a roller coaster of ups and downs all in the space of 90 minutes. If a England game goes to penalties you may not make it through in one piece.

Football matches bring out the signs of bipolar in men more than other sports. Rapid cycling bipolar disorder is seen in football fans, especially if your team are in the relegation drop zone or just need 3 points to win the league. The emotional pressure and stress keeps you on edge.

Football fans seem to develop a type of bipolar. When your team wins its all happy smiles and well done. When they lose or are on the end of a good thrashing then its tears and excuses. This is bipolar sport.

If you have high expectations of England FC then your dreams are about to be crushed. With every major football tournament the media hype deludes us into thinking we can win it.
England are a good side that get humiliated by weaker teams, that makes it very frustrating to watch England play. If you play spot the ball in a England match then our goalkeeper is usually picking it out of the net because the defence went to sleep. Assuming the match hasn’t ended in a dull draw.

In the 1980s and 1990s I used to be able to predict the scores but these days I’m not sure what to expect every with every match day. It’s not enjoyable watching them draw or lose a match that they should have won and collected the 3 points.

The trouble and hard truth is that England is a great side that under performs. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing £200,000 a week talent under-achieve and not reach its full potential.
It makes you feel downbeat knowing we could do a lot better and bring back England's good times and glory days. Best not go there before the disappointment gets too much and we get knocked out in the first round.

Maybe we stop having delusions of grandeur and admit that England have an "OK" team. If you look at the FIFA world rankings at: http://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/ranking-table/men/ and checkout England statistics it looks good on paper and we seem to perform well at International Friendlies too. But when it really matters and the goals actually count it all falls apart and the England team never "gels", can't string five passes together or put the ball in the back of the net.

The frustrating thing is these same English players and football heroes that perform well and bust a gut in the Premier League don't seem to function at the same levels they do for their clubs.

On the world stage of football the England team become a bunch of overpaid and overrated players. Putting on a England shirt make them lose their superpowers and confidence like superman wearing  a kryptonite vest.

England failing to qualify or reach the final or at least the semi finals is disappointing. Getting knocked out at the group stage is not good enough and the England fans won’t settle for it.
It’s time for the club, the FA, England's management and players to raise they game and give the fans what they have been craving for so long. If football is a business then success comes in the form of a trophy or at least a shot at the final.

Could it be that been an England fan really means going to the pub to watch the team get hammered or lose on penalties. I hope the grief and shared experience of defeat brings us together as football fans.

With football and in life it's all raw emotion. I suppose peoples bipolar sport could be a lot worst if you're a Scotland fan.
